Abstract This paper examines the common interests of labour and community organisations and their common foe: the corporation. The argument is that the corporation within a capitalist system is primarily a vehicle for making individual profit at the expense of the community. It has the functioning power of the individual but none of an individual's responsibilities. This lack of the corporation's accountability and responsibility to the community make it a flawed instrument that needs serious and radical review. We do this in exploratory terms by looking at some aspects of the relationship between labour, the corporation and the community in Australia and find common objectives in reconsidering and re-regulating the corporation.
