Abstract
The 2019 'Just Not Australian' exhibition at Artpace was an important showcase of the Blood Money research project. It featured one large major work that was a commemorative of Dundalli. It promoted these hero's intelligence, perseverance and maneuverability. It did this by illustrating him in large scale water colour through designs mimicking Australian currency banknotes - specifically the 100 dollar note.
Contribution: Significant events in his life are also detailed in the design of the creative works. The depiction of these people in such a way contributes to new knowledge of Australian history that is easily accessible to the general public. Of particular note is that Artspace approached Dr. Presley to develop a new work for the exhibition that will tour nationally once the Artspace exhibition is finished. This banknote portrait work helped summarise some of his important achievements and acts as a continuation of his public legacy in an innovative way. Artspace are interested in promoting new works of this series through the inclusion in of new works during the tour. The tour is being supported in partnership with Museums & Galleries of NSW.
Evidence: Ryan Presley is the only artist to be included in this major exhibition that is a researcher from QCA. Evidence of this is also in the fact that Artspace are seeking new works of this series to be included in the national tour of this exhibition.
