Abstract
Tourism is a global phenomenon that has experienced tremendous growth and transformation over the decades. The number of international tourist arrivals has been on a consistent upward trajectory, with projections estimating a significant increase to 1.8 billion international tourists by 2030 (UNWTO, 2020). However, this prediction may need to be re-evaluated in the light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
