Abstract
In the face of increasing crises and disasters which threaten the sustainability and well-being of both organisations and more broadly communities, it becomes of paramount importance to fully understand the ability of entities to respond and adapt to such disturbances. Given the multifaceted nature of the concept of organisational resilience, the consequential lack of a commonly accepted definition, and the uniqueness of the tourism context in current discourses of resilience, it is fundamental to gain a more nuanced understanding of the theory and practice of the resilience of tourism organisations. This study addresses this need by investigating the different ways in which resilience in tourism organisations is conceptualised and experienced. A phenomenographic approach is proposed to advance knowledge of this complex construct.
