Abstract
In the preface to this book, Saraceni reminds us that the field of World Englishes was originally seen as being anti-conventional and rule-breaking, but he feels that it has become more conventional and he urges that the field needs to rekindle its anti-conventional position; and, happily, that there are signs that this is happening.
