Abstract

This article combines three teams of contributors, from Australia, Portugal and Russia which assesses the role of telemedicine and major aspects of its legal regulation when applying telemedicine technology in the context of delivery of health care and within the context of national legislation. It explores both the medical ramifications and the legal interpretations in which the application of the technology, to everyday medicine, appears to move faster than does some of the legal considerations thereof. Even the concept of what constitutes telemedicine is rapidly changing, as much of what was once considered within the realms of science fiction is now part of everyday health care.
