Abstract

A plasmonic photocatalyst is designed and synthesized by coating TiO 2 nanoparticles onto the surface of Ag nanorods (Ag NRs), namely one-dimensional TiO 2 @Ag NRs photocatalyst. Materials characterizations suggest that the as-prepared catalysts consist of a uniform and high crystalline anatase nanocrystals and highly conductive Ag nanorod. It delivers remarkable visible-light photocatalytic performance in simultaneous H 2 evolution and decomposition of methyl orange (MO) due to the synergetic effects of plasmonic resonance under visible light irradiation, a matched heterojunction, high surface area and large conductivity.
