Abstract
It’s My Life Now: Starting Over After an Abusive Relationship or Domestic Violence is a wonderful resource for survivors of violence, their friends and supportive family members, and those who work with them. Meg Kennedy Dugan is director of counseling services at New England College in New Hampshire. Roger R. Hock is a professor of psychology and human sexuality at Mendocino College in California. Their combined experience informs this book that guides survivors of domestic violence through the process of healing, rebuilding their lives, and regaining self-esteem. The book is explicitly written for women who are survivors of domestic violence or abuse by men and as such is able to address the many gender-specific aspects of abuse and its aftermath.
