Research Background: Fragment: 4th Iteration is a fabricated steel cage on wheels constructed with rusted re-bar. The work is a continuation which will again reappear in my final exhibition/prac assessment. Within the Botanical Gardens, the work responds to the experience of Brisbane lockdowns

Research Contribution:

Prior to this iteration of the object’s particular public appearance it has explored ideas of literality and self-representation in which it continued in this exhibition. The series has evolved over the entire candidature and follows an accumulative structure, which feeds back in to ideas of fragmentation and becoming.

Research Significance:

The cage features in several works discussed in the thesis and provides an armature to harmonise theory and practise in the final chapter. This work adds to the concept of Interpassivity in my research functioning in this iteration as a static art object as oppose to a performative piece in Fragment: Iteration II (Bubble) where I explored the Brisbane CBD from within the cage.
