Abstract
The Anko hoo-ha Have you heard the Hoo-ha about some K-Mart branded "Anko" items being sold in Target? The commotion is sufficiently significant to warrant a headline in the Daily Mail Australia. According to the news report, "Kmart's popular Anko homeware range has been spotted on the shelves of Target by one eagle-eyed customer" (Wilcox, 2024). Cue the chorus of genuine surprise and incredulous gasps. The customer, #miss___minchen…, broke the news on a TikTok post "The Collab we don't need" (2024). She uploaded a 7 second TikTok video panning some shelves in Target Melbourne with a dramatic voiceover asking, "Oh my god, what is that?" (#miss____minchen…, 2024). Upon seeing some Kmart-branded cups and plastic water bottles in the TikTok, a flurry of keyboard warriors have added comments to #miss___minchen….'s TikTok, venting their disquiet: - "Guess I won't be shopping at Target anymore. Kmart sucks" - "I was so disappointed (sad face emoji). I hate Kmart quality. I loved shopping at Target" - "I don't go to target to buy cheap Kmart products" - "Nooooooooooooo we don't want this (scream emoji)".
