Abstract

As a result of near exponential human population growth, ecological habitat destruction on an unprecedented scale and human induced influences upon the physical, chemical and biological dynamics of the world, serious changes are taking place involving the Earth's environment on a global scale. These changes are likely to be the drivers of further consequent changes to the stability of and prognosis for human health at a global, national and local level. Bringing these subjects onto pharmacy's educational and debate agendas will ensure that our profession is capable of offering a balanced view in assisting the public come to terms with the development of these complex issues over time. It will also enable pharmacy to participate in the evolution and development of public health policy with government at all levels.
