The phrases On va s'arranger and On s'arrangera are subjected to an ethnophraseological study. Ethnophraseology, a branch of applied ethnolinguistics, is one of a set of pathways intended to allow advanced learners of a foreign languaculture to use their burgeoning language skills to acquire more extensive knowledge as to the values linked up with the languaculture they are in the process of acquiring. First, the results of a distributional study aimed at replacing the two phrases in their discursive context are adjusted with reference to the possible impact of verbal tense and other contextual elements. This two-tiered linguistic analysis, which is enhanced by explications in natural semantic metalanguage reflecting the precise meaning of the phrases, is followed by a survey of a few other common phrases involving the pronominal verb s'arranger, and at the end of that survey a hypothesis (in need of further corroboration) is formulated with respect to the cultural value underpinning the entire set of phrases taken on board.
