Abstract
This article employs heuristic research to examine the concept of spirituality in the context of visual arts teaching and practice. My inquiry is motivated by the challenge of teaching a senior secondary visual arts curriculum unit to pre-service teachers, who struggle to create artwork in response to a spiritual viewpoint. To investigate the nature of this problem, I undertake the task myself and reflect upon the process through Blahnik's phenomenological experiential rightness, Gendlin’s focusing, and an amplification approach of interweaving theoretical insights and my poetic musings. The inquiry moves from surface explorations into the depth of the nature of the phenomena. Through the interplay of creation and reflection, my understanding of spirituality unfurls into a perennial, mystical apprehension of experience.
