University students (N = 32) responded to a 45-item subjective outcome evaluation scale after taking a credit-bearing elective subject titled “Service Leadership” at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in the second semester of the 2013-14 academic year. Both quantitative and qualitative responses were analyzed to give a comprehensive picture on the students’ perceptions of the course. Consistent with previous studies, results showed that students generally had positive perceptions of the subject quality, teaching quality as well as the benefits they gained from the program. There was support for the reliability and validity of the subjective outcome evaluation scale. As predicted, quality of program, instructor and program effectiveness were significantly correlated amongst themselves.
