Abstract
Critical care is one of the most complex, high-stakes healthcare environments, with many elements of critical care practice invisible to scrutiny. Research that seeks to measure the what, to predict outcomes and establish cause and effect are important in critical care; but so too is research that seeks to explore and understand the who, the why, and the human experience.
