Abstract

Summary Our research is aimed at identifying the genes that play a role in CVD and migraine and the Norfolk population may be of significant use in these endeavours. Norfolk Islanders are primarily descended from 18th Century English (Bounty) sailors and Polynesian women. DNA samples from ~70% of the Islands' adult population have been prepared, heritability and power estimates determined, LD investigated and a recent full microsatellite genome scan undertaken.
