Abstract

Exactly one week after his eightieth birthday, Paul McCartney was the headline act at Glastonbury, performing a nearly three-hour hit-filled set in front of a live audience of around 100,000, plus millions more watching on television. There is perhaps no other pop music performer today with a larger and more robust catalogue of songs from which to draw or with a larger fan base of ecstatic followers singing along with every word.
