Abstract
In this chapter, we provide an overview of kinaesthetic learning in Early Childhood education by implementing a systematic review of key journal articles identified in the research literature. Our intention was to identify key themes to support current understandings around kinaesthetic learning as well as identify current gaps that require further consideration within Early Childhood education research. We employ a PRISMA approach for the systematic review that initially found 546 articles, before reducing to 23 articles for the themed analysis. Key themes emerged around the types of activities, age range, developmental impact and the participants in the learning. Furthermore, greater awareness of kinaesthetic learning is needed within the research literature that specifically focuses on planning and programming as well as professional learning.
