Abstract
This technical report presents the methodology, findings and data for the Attitudes Towards Diversity and Conflict Survey. The survey was administered by Griffith University researchers via Facebook for a one-month period to gauge Australians’ perceptions of unfair treatment from the Australian government as well as public attitudes towards diverse groups in Australia. The following sections of the report present: (a) the aims of the project, (b) the background literature informing the project, (c) the methodology used to collect the survey data, and (d) a summary of the main findings obtained from the survey. Following this, the items used to construct key measures in the survey are presented. The actual survey instrument used in the project is then presented at the back of this report, with a detailed breakdown of participant responses provided to each survey item.
A primary aim of the Attitudes Towards Diversity and Conflict Survey is to gauge public perceptions of unfair treatment from the Australian government as well as public attitudes towards diverse groups in Australia. It also aims to determine the extent to which the Australian public passively support the actions of extremists and the extent to which they support various acts being done in service of a cause.
