Abstract
Violence between intimates is within the domain of the criminal law only in certain circumstances - examining recent Court of Appeal judgments focusing on successful intimate violence prosecutions - judicial views on the relevance of the intimate nature of the violence - criminal law is more likely to be implemented in situations of extreme violence - criminal law may be able to be used proactively to stop violence before it reaches serious levels.
