Abstract
Attempts to recreate the Mayan view of the world and the cosmos through an analysis of the culture's mathematical and astronomical symbolism. The book examines hieroglyphic and architectural evidence to suggest ways in which political, religious and everyday rituals were organised. Subjects include representations of the creation myth, human and animal sacrifice, gods, numerology, arithmetic and the structure of the calendar.
