Abstract
Grand strategy is a very fashionable topic. The great diversity of contemporary security issues – from the traditional issues of geopolitical competition and terrorism to non-traditional matters such as climate change and mass migration – all seemingly demand some innovative strategic thinking, and preferably quickly. However, despite numerous attempts to apply strategic thinking to the world’s problems, the highest level of strategy – grand strategy – remains at best poorly understood. This groundbreaking book by Lukas Milevski addresses this deficiency by focusing on the history of the concept of grand strategy as it has evolved under the pressure of compelling strategic requirements.
