Abstract
A modified procedure for calculating the thermal diffusivity of solids based on temperature measurements at two points and the semiinfinite boundary condition is presented. The method makes use of a solution to the unsteady one-dimensional inverse heat conduction problem for the semi-infinite solid. The procedure gives accurate results based on temperature changes produced by an arbitrary fluctuating heat flux source at the boundary.
