Abstract
Research Background: …and that’s what tortures me was a major exhibition of new work exhibited for the first time. The exhibition consisted of 11 new works. The new works were a mixture of photographs, paintings, sculpture and text. The exhibition continues my exploration into the representations of personal experience through inter-disciplinary practice. Narrative is used through text and images to explore how identity is formed through story-telling and vernacular photography.
Research Contribution: This exhibition represents the first time I used painting techniques onto the photograph. A pixelated image is scrambled in photo-manipulated software and each pixel is isolated and then randomly painted onto the surface of the image.
Research Significance: This exhibition was the first time I have exhibited my work at the prestigious Jan Murphy Gallery in Brisbane. The exhibition represents a continuation of my PhD research and as well received. The University of Queensland Art Museum acquired a work for their collection. Three of the works then travelled as part of Spring 1883 at the Hotel Windsor in Melbourne.
