Abstract
The Safe Spaces project was developed to build local council capability to better understand why some public places are viewed as ‘unsafe’ and to provide local councils and other community-focused organisations with engagement strategies to connect with women and ultimately improve women’s perceptions of safety in public places. The project involved collaborations with women from a range of ethnicities and cultural backgrounds and age groups and with a range of abilities living in the Melton, Monash and Wyndham local government areas (LGAs).
