Abstract

This article discusses Australian attitudes towards China's recent initiative to develop a new Maritime Silk Road, particularly Canberra's dilemma in joining the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. It not only outlines the main issues involved in the decision making process, but also delves deeper into underlying factors motivating Australia's foreign policy choices.
