Abstract

Ongoing high-quality research will always be essential to guide and shape clinical practice. The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), including through its flagship journals, has a duty to lead the endeavour of championing new clinician-scientists. As such, we have been appointed by Australasian Psychiatry as trainee editors and have been tasked with finding new ways of engaging psychiatry trainees in reading and contributing to the journal. Our belief is that many clinician-scientists of the future may well be found within the ranks of trainees and pre-vocational doctors, provided there are opportunities to foster their interest in this area. Our brief is to consider ways in which this could be achieved.
