Abstract

This report, prepared by a team of legal and banking experts, says our Government should actively support New Zealand becoming a blockchain and financial technology (fintech) hub. It suggests that for New Zealand to enjoy the vast potential benefits from this technology that we need a central bank-issued cryptocurrency, thriving cryptocurrency exchanges and the ability for businesses to trade in a GST-free cryptocurrency. Recommendations for a regulatory framework for blockchain are a key part of this report.
