Abstract
There is still ongoing debate as to whether emotional intelligence skills and abilities can be learned. Many organisations are currently undertaking training to determine the answer to this question. However, these training packages vary from simple interpersonal skills training to specific emotions focused programs. In this paper we discuss the framework of three studies seeking to determine the extent to which specific interventions increase emotional intelligence. Study 1 examines interpersonal skills training, Study 2 investigates relational and behavioural skills interventions, and Study 3 explores specific emotional intelligence interventions in order to determine their individual impact upon the emotional intelligence of individuals. Data collection for these three studies has recently been completed with the final results available for presentation at the conference.
