Abstract
The latter part of the 20th century witnessed tremendous growth of tourism, paralleled with increasingly widespread concerns arising from social and environmental impacts (Stovall et al., 2019). Timothy (2019) critically explores global tourism in relation to the ‘exhausted Earth’, insisting that new forms of 21st century tourism need to be imagined and enacted.
