Abstract

A new pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine alkaloid, rigidin E (I), and the known metabolites rigidin (II) and 1-methylherbipoline (III) were isolated from a Papua New Guinea tunicate Eudistoma sp. A combination of spectroscopic data were used to det. the structures of these metabolites. Alkaloids I, II and III showed only minimal cell growth inhibition when assayed for cytotoxicity against HCT 166 and A431 cancer cell lines.
