Traces the historical development of the securities market and its regulation in China, including the enactment of the Company Law 1994 and the creation of the Chinese Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC). Considers the relationship in China between securities market regulation and the promotion of good corporate governance. Provides examples of market manipulation, insider dealing and other corporate misconduct in China.
