Abstract

In Chapter 3 the nature of enterprise networks and how they deliver value was discussed with particular emphasis on partnering and alliancing. The nature of different types of relationship-based procurement strategics was explained and latter sections of that chapter concentrated upon alliancing with several case studies, mainly from the engineering industry, being provided to focus discussion. However, little of the motivation of alliance members was discussed. The selection process for National Museum of Australia was introduced (sec Figure 3.10) and the 12-point criteria for that project were outlined, general underlying principles that impel alliances lo be formed as a response lo external and internal drivers were left for further discussion. Such drivers must inevitably shape and determine the preferred method of selecting alliance member organisations and the way that these organisations mav be selected and evaluated.
