Abstract
This chapter, AI and the Humans in Higher Education delves into the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education, emphasizing the need for a human-centered approach to its integration. As AI technologies continue to advance, they bring both opportunities and challenges for educators and students alike. While AI has the potential to transform educational practices, there is a growing concern that techno-centric perspectives might overshadow the essential human elements of teaching and learning. This chapter argues for the importance of keeping human needs, experiences, and ethical considerations at the forefront of AI adoption in education. By advocating for a balanced approach, the chapter encourages educators to view AI as a tool that should be thoughtfully integrated into pedagogical strategies, always aiming to enhance students' educational experience.
