Abstract

This chapter explores the use of learning technologies to enhance student learning. It adopts a pedagogy-first approach and emphasises that technologies afford opportunities to enhance learning, but successful outcomes depend on the way in which technologies are embedded in subject and course design and the extent to which they facilitate alignment between expected learning outcomes, coursework and assessment. The use of the term 'technology enhanced learning' (TEL) throughout the chapter establishes a clear focus on student learning as it guides you towards making effective decisions about the integration of TEL in the subjects you teach.
