Abstract
Precast beam-column joints are very important components of precast concrete structures. At present, the connection modes of prefabricated beams and columns show a trend of diversification, and rapid selection of beam column connection types under different usage environments can make the construction process more efficient. Therefore, a well-designed connection method can not only make the rapid connection of prefabricated components but also improve the integrity of the structure. Numerical simulation analysis is an efficient and economical analytical method that quickly verifies the performance of components by simulating the results from equivalent laboratory experiments.
In this study, several groups of different types of beam column joints were modeled, and the accuracy of the model was verified by comparing actual experimental data with the model. Based on the completed validation model, the comparative performance of these joints under cyclic loading are then investigated by making the joints of same sizes and subjected to same loading. Structural responses of precast beam-column joints subjected to cyclic loading are predicted using an innovative numerical method, for comparing with actual test data to validate the numerical approach. This innovative numerical analysis method was developed using ABAQUS finite element software to compare the performance of various types of precast beam-column joints. Four key performance criteria were devised for this comparison, which facilitated the identification of the best performing beam-column joint type under cyclic loading.
