I am grateful for the opportunity to make this submission on the proposed new model for regulating aged care in Australia. I am a Professor of Law with a background and expertise in negligence and compensation law and in the adequacy of compensation for injuries suffered by vulnerable people in Australia. I am a co-author of a leading Australian Tort textbook1 and I have previously written on the lack of compensation for injuries suffered by older people in aged care.2 My submission addresses those issues.
