Abstract
This paper models noise of piezoelectric charge accelerometer. First, input and output state-space equations are derived based on mass-spring-damper system. After that, Simulink model of accelerometer with mechanical and electrical noise components is developed. The device and piezoelectric parameters are taken from commercial products. Simulation results demonstrate impact of noise on output of this sensor, and electrical noise is more dominant than mechanical noise. The Simulink model with noise sources is easy to use and helpful in characterizing the performances of any piezoelectric accelerometers. The model can also be adapted to other piezoelectric-based inertial transducers.
