Abstract

Mitigation of wind turbine (WT) forward scattering for communication systems requires a comprehensive understanding of the impact of diffraction of radio signals at a WT. 2D Fresnel-Kirchhoff diffraction approach not only is a suitable fast and profound calculation method, but also provides a qualitative insight into the time-variant diffraction loss of the forward scattered signal. A general understanding of the interaction of the diffraction by rotor and tower on an illuminated ground plane is presented which is beyond the investigation of a particular scenario.
