Abstract
Over the last few decades, a significant number of natural disasters have severely affected the physical world and damaged the tourism industry. A stable management environment is unrealistic for the tourism industry as very few destinations are immune from external threats (Carlsen & Hughes, 2008). The unique characteristics of the tourism industry make it difficult to recover after a disaster. The tourism industry comprises different sub-sectors that are interrelated and jointly contribute to visitors’ travel experience, such as restaurants, transportation entities, accommodation, and attractions (Evans, Campbell, & Stonehouse, 2003).
