Abstract
McKercher (2010) claims that ecotourism suffered from exaggerated early projections which collapsed owing to a crisis of confidence amongst academics. This is not supported by available evidence, which indicates that the commercial ecotourism subsector continues to grow slowly and steadily, and largely ignores academics.
