Abstract

History can be a great teacher and motivator. As an academic discipline, history has traditionally been about the interpretation of known facts rather than a debate over the facts themselves. For every event, there are multiple interpretations as to meanings, causes, and effects, and it falls to the historian to make the case explaining why his or her particular interpretation should be accepted.
