Abstract
With an "multiperspectivist approach" (Kellner 2003), this chapter analyzes the multimedia strategies followed by the new media conglomerates established in Argentina since the 1990s. It studies the special blurry relationship that the Argentine media have built in the areas of fiction and reality to describe the social context of the country during the last fifteen years. Exemplifying with news stories appeared on the dailies Clarin, La Nacion and Pagina/12, and with references to TV news and entertainment programs produced in Argentina, this chapter discusses the intersection of melodrama, crime stories and political corruption and its effects on cultural production and mass reception.
