Abstract

Screening for pre-eclampsia is not new, and in fact formed the original rationale for the introduction of antenatal care. Over time, it has become apparent that establishing a patient's risk for pre-eclampsia early in gestation is beneficial, particularly once aspirin and calcium were shown to be effective in reducing this condition's incidence.
