Abstract
A significant body of research supports the need for activity and health-related fitness in the lives of youth. Given the substantial increase in obesity among children and adolescents, physical activity must play a central role in helping to combat this serious societal problem. If lifestyle changes are to be made, physical activity for overweight and obese children must be provided in a setting that is enjoyable and capable of engendering a positive social experience if lifestyle changes are to be made.
