Abstract
The health and economic cost of diabetes is increasing, making it an important health priority at a global and national level (WHO, 2014). Compared to women in the general population, women with diabetes are at much higher risk of other illnesses including cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, and vision loss. Further, women with diabetes are more likely to experience psychological distress (AIHW, 2015).
