Abstract
Magna Carta, often called the first human rights document, is 800 years old today. However, there were precedents to Magna Carta. Notably, upon his coronation in 1100, King Henry I of England agreed to a Charter of Liberties, which recognised property rights, rights for barons and the Church. However, there is not much evidence that he actually complied with it.
