Abstract

Health Care Practice and Policy in Australia explores and analyses the challenges faced by contemporary Australian health professionals, proposes principles for contemporary health care practice, and provides examples of innovations in practice. It is an applied textbook which extends students' analytical skills and understanding of healthcare policy in Australia, around the foundational links between policy and effective healthcare practice. It introduces some of the key perspectives emerging nationally and internationally in relation to health and illness, policy approaches and practice frameworks. Health Care Practice and Policy in Australia helps students to understand the complexities of the current healthcare policy agenda and prepares them for innovative practice in an environment which is redefining the nature and location of healthcare service delivery.
