Abstract

Definition Plan Velo is a program that introduces cycling in Paris and is planning to make Paris a complete cycling city by 2026.

Introduction Changing the behavior of the population may be easy in the short run, but it is challenging to sustain (Bouton 2014). Changing the transportation mode from the car to more viable modes such as cycling is a significant challenge (Dudley and Richardson 2000). This study introduces Paris’ Plan Velo, the program planning to make Paris a cycling city by 2026. The main objectives of this program are to build 1400 km of cycleways, secure bicycle parking spaces, and ensure the cyclists’ safety on the road. The most innovative aspect of this program is to gradually remove gas-powered vehicles and promote green transportation.
