Abstract
Understanding the relationship between Australia and international law by focusing on role of legislators in protecting rights of asylum seekers - debate over asylum and refugee issues has been at the forefront of human rights issues - Parliament's role in implementing refugee rights is a neglected topic - focus has been on conflict between executive and the courts - potential for greater legislator interaction with human rights.
